El Rey Burrito Lounge is a vibrant gem nestled in the heart of Old Cloverdale, offering an authentic Mexican dining experience that truly stands out. This lively eatery prides itself on using locally sourced ingredients to create mouthwatering dishes that cater to all tastes, including plenty of vegetarian options. The atmosphere is funky and hip, making it an ideal spot for everything from casual meet-ups with friends over drinks to enjoying a hearty meal.

A staple of Old Cloverdale, the burrito lounge is a unique but high end take on Tex Mex. Lots of great drinks, and flavors. The rustic outdoor seating can be great at the right times but can occasionally disappoint depending on weather and lighting. This explains the flash needed to photograph my plate. Glad it's been successful for as long as it has and wish then many many more years

Located in a nice area, I went as recommended to me, in fairness the margarita my wife had was good and my beer was a good beer. We ordered food and unfortunately this is why I can’t recommend it. My tacos came and they were cold, there was no cutlery on the table and my wife’s burrito Bowl had no chicken as apparently the order was Input incorrectly, it was sent back with an apology and assurance they would come back out fresh and hot. Fifteen minutes later both main dishes reappeared, again without cutlery and tacos cold for the second time, how can that be?.I am sorry to say a poor dining experience with poor service to boot.

This was my first time there. The food was amazing. I sat at my table, ignored for almost 12 minutes, and then my waiter brought me water, which seemed like a good idea, but it gave me an excuse not to order a drink which cost the place money. I ordered chips and guacamole and then waited a very long time before he remembered I existed and came and stood next to my table. I said I would like the steak fajitas, all the way of course. Another gentleman brought my fajitas, set them on the table, and then turned and walked away, not staying long enough for me to ask about my chips and guac (which I had not received)..., and I actually said oh sir wait and he did not hear me? My waiter stopped by to check if the food was okay, and I reminded him about the chips and guacamole. He finally brought them, and they were yummy. The funny? thing was that the table next to had a family and the dad had enough, as they were receiving the same service, and tried to tell someone and the waiter came out, argued with him, got in his face, and basically told him he had too much to drink and that he was crazy. When he finally brought my ticket (which did not have the chips and guac, so more lost money to the business), he apologized for me having to hear the drunk guy.... and then disappeared again. Someone else took my card and rang me up. I will probably try again as the food was delish, but hopefully, I will get another server.

I visited El Rey yesterday before an event that was in the area. There was over an hour wait for the first available table but I got lucky and was able to grab two seats at the bar within 5 minutes. They serve one of the best margaritas I have ever had and they have a great drink menu. I ordered 2 street tacos, chips and queso and my only complaint was that I told them that I was allergic to onions and asked to make sure none would be included with my meal. They had onions in their pico de Gallo and were going to leave that off but forgot. It was a busy night so I just dealt with it and the sweet potato street taco was fabulous. I would not have waited an hour so I am glad I was able to sit at the bar, this is definitely one of the better places to eat in Montgomery.

We had some fantastic food last weekend. Burrito, a mix of tacos, roasted corn, a mix of chips and dips, margaritas, and tres leches cake!! The bartender knows their stuff and everything was seasoned very well. My favorite was actually the sweet potato taco. It's so good and the goat cheese is a nice addition. Service was also really good as well.

Decent restaurant, food was okay, not the common Mexican items. Only reason for the 3 star review is the service. We were a group of 6ni understand can be a lot, but got my drink order incorrect. Once ordering picked an item that came with sour cream and guac it was the main reason to order it instead of the other item, the sides did not come. Had to ask for them separately and was told it doesn’t come with it, but on the menu clearly states it does. Menu online and in store also different

My friends and I dined here on Thursday, 19 Dec. out of 5 of us, only one person enjoyed what he ate. I ordered the chicken Baja bowl with a side of guacamole (which I never received), someone else on my party ordered the enchilada platter, two others ordered the chicken quesadillas and the last person ordered one chorizo taco.We were advised that the kitchen was backed up so it would take a bit to get our food. When we received our food it looked like it had been sitting, the melted cheese that covered the top of my Baja bowl was pretty much cold as was the cheese on the enchilada platter. Also the enchiladas were not visually appealing. The enchiladas were chopped up, unrecognizable as enchiladas.I took two bites of my food and it was cold and bland and the beans tasted old. The person who had the enchilada platter said theirs was cold as well and the beans on the plate tasted off. The two who had the quesadillas said that the only flavors that came through was the cheese because the chicken in it was unseasoned. Their rice and beans were cold and once again, the refried beans tasted terrible. The only real edible item on the table was the chorizo taco. The waitress came by to check on us, I told her that we’re were “just ok” as I pushed my uneaten bowl away. A minute or two later a man came to our table, I’m guessing that he was a manager, but I’m unsure because he didn’t introduce himself. He asked what was wrong with my food, I told him it was bland, had zero flavors. All he said was “very sorry” and walked away.Shortly after we received our checks, we paid and left.Just an FYI….there wasn’t a lot of people in there but they may have been short staffed (?) I’m guessing because no explanation was given.10/10 would not recommend.

I love this place.Great vibe, always awesome service. They have a great beer selection. The food is good. The wait can get pretty crazy on the weekend and with large SOS parties. The reliability of a good place with good food and good service in Montgomery can be a challenge, but El Rey pulls it off.Keep up the good work, guys.
