Coming from a small town to a college university was such an anxious experience for me, getting to know different peoples back grounds and being around more individuals like you. South Carolina State University is a place I call home and I want to continue being apart of this home. This University has taught me long term life skills and made me a better communicator. I share with others a blessing of being in a community so welcoming. The school isn't perfect it has it's issues with dorm spacing and lack of study fields, but doesn't every university, there are many unique things about State and I'm glad I am able to see these things everyday I attend school there. Being an out of state student doesn't feel any different because of how inclusive the university is, besides the tuition cost I feel more of myself growing mentally, physically, and spiritually at The South Carolina State University.

My overall experience at South Carolina State University was been outstanding for the last 4 years. The university is a very small university which is good for me due to having dyslexia. I get to have one on one time with my professor and they know my name and im just not a number at the university. The campus life is great as well! Everyone is so friendly and its like a big community. I love my school and wouldn’t want to be at any other HBCU!

I just think that S.C. State is not a school of order! I paid my housing on May 28, 2024 for fall semester only to find out 4 days before move in that they didn’t have any rooms vacant. I’m also financially cleared to attend there, so that means they took my money for housing and for attending the college, but don’t have any place for me to stay. I feel like I’ve been scammed!! Because I’m not the only one that are doing this to. The hallway is full of student with the same concerns. This is discouraging and absolutely terrible!!
