He hated this feeling, watching his mother in pain and not being able to do anything.
"This is the last time. I promise. " Mich thinned her lips and she hugged her son. Cooling him down. They were almost there now, she didn't want any rush decision to destroy what they had waited for, for years. She closed her eyes when she felt his arms how around her and after a few seconds, her mind went back to the words Becky had said earlier that day.

Two days later.
" I want Tan to manage the company, he has years of experience in business management. And let's not forget that he has already managed the Ninety-Two Corporation for years. I think he is in the best position to handle the company." Becky said.
Theer and Cherisa weren't surprised that they weren't chosen. But what surprised them was the fact that she was energetic in choosing the man who murdered her wife, and the fact that she wasn't even looking sad was disturbing. Were they being led into a trap and they didn't know?
"Alright, it seems this is the best option we have. Tan, you'll manage the company until the investigation has been duly carried out on Cherisa Niels and her son." Grandma said.
And Tan smiled and nodded.
"Alright."She stared at him for a few seconds and then she turned to Cherisa.
"I'll file the case so the police will be investigating you both soon. If you're innocent, then your son will be welcomed into the family. But for now, everything stays as it is."Tan did not like the idea of Theer coming into the family. And surely they didn't kill Freen because he was the one who did it. So they might actually take everything he had worked for. He gritted his teeth as he watched them. Just when he thought that the company was finally in his hands it became so far away from his reach. He didn't want to do anything to them; for one, everyone was already suspecting him for killing Freen if he did anything to them he was going to go down for it. He didn't like being pushed to a corner, but at that moment his hands were tied.
After the meeting, everyone went back to their respective homes.
Mich's mind had not left what Becky told her a few days ago. No matter how much she tried not to think about it. She found herself going back to it over and over again.
Finally, she yielded to her thoughts and decided to search through Tan's stuff. She was scared, but then it was the only way she could get her mind off of those thoughts. If she checks his things and doesn't see anything wrong relating to Nita, then it would be clear that Becky is just trying to see discord between them. But if she found anything, she didn't want to even think about that.
Her heart raced during the ride home. Thankfully, Tan had things to attend to and he wasn't going to come back immediately. So she had time to search through his stuff, she didn't want to search for his stuff not because she was scared of him, but because she didn't want it to be true. She knew who she married and she had lived with him for years so she knew what he was capable of. But what she wasn't sure of, was if he was wicked enough to kill her sister.
When she got home, she went into his study room and she locked herself in.
Her heart pounded as her eyes looked through the books properly arranged on the shelves and the table arranged in the center of the room with a laptop on it.
She took two steps forward, and her eyes looked up at the CCTV camera and she stopped. After thinking for a second, she walked out of the room and disabled the CCTV in the whole house. Then went back to his study room.
She sat down on his chair and she tried to guess the passcode to his system. But all her guesses were incorrect. She searched the shelves, door, table, under the carpet, everywhere that looked like something could be kept but she could not find anything reasonable.
Mich slumped back on the chair and placed her head on the table. Even though she was eager to know who killed her sister, part of her was glad that she did not find anything. Hiving a sigh of relief, she stood up and arranged everything back where it was, and walked out to his room.
She had just taken a few steps when her phone vibrated in her trousers pocket. Her brows furrowed when she saw it was her mom and she picked up the call and placed the phone to her ear.
"Mich," her mom's voice sounded fearful over the phone.
"Mom, what's wrong?"
"Mich, come over to the house now. We found Nita's diary."
Mich zoned out for a few seconds before he replied slowly.
"Okay." She blinked as she placed her phone in her pocket, And turned to the front door.Her heart pounded as she drove out of the house. In a few minutes, she finally will find out who killed her sister, she had been waiting for this moment for a very long time. But at that moment, she was scared. So much that swept dripped from her forehead. It should be anybody, but not Tan. Mich prayed silently. She didn't love him, but she didn't want to believe that the man she had lived with for so many years and even had a child with could kill her sister. She wanted to believe that there was little humanity left in him.
Her hands gripped the steering wheel tightly as she drove speedily to her family home. She didn't even switch off her engine as she hurriedly ran into the house. Her heart almost jumped out of her ribs. Her steps came to a halt when she stepped into the living room. And she saw her parents sitting down, looking gasps.
Mich's eyes stared at her parents and then it turned to the book lying on the table. And without a word, she walked to it and she picked it up.
Her eyes fell on the word written on it "Nita's Diary".
One glanced at the letters and she recognized them as her sister's handwriting.
"Where did you find it?"Mich didn't realize how dry her throat was until she tried to speak.
Her mom looked up at her. Her eyes were red, it looked like she had cried a lot.
"It was hidden in the basem*nt. We found it when we were packing out some old stuff." Her mom's voice quaked as she spoke, tears gathered in her eyes. And she looked away from Mich.Mich looks at the book.
From her parent's expression, she knew they already knew what was inside the book. But she didn't want to ask them. No, she wasn't prepared to know who the killer was, just yet.
Mich stood for a while staring at the front page intently. Finally, mastering the courage she walked to the closest couch and sat down. Carefully, she opened the first page.
The first page was dated five years ago.
"Today was great! I got my first acting job, I'm so happy."
She swiped through the pages slowly, reading every detail trying to hold back the tears threatening to fall from her eyes. She read each page until she stopped at the page with red ink.
Mich's heart skipped a beat as her eyes fell on the words.
"He raped me. I wish I never went there. God! I feel so dirty. I don't know who to talk to. He's the devil. I'm so broken."
